• The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday appointed Upendra Singh Rawat as the next High Commissioner of India to Uganda.
• Upendra Singh Rawat is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1998 batch in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
• He is currently serving as the Ambassador of India to Panama.

India becomes second largest producer of crude steel
• Union Steel Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that India’s steel industry has achieved remarkable growth in the last nine years and has now overtaken Japan to become the second largest producer of crude steel in the world in 2018.
• He said that the country’s steel production capacity has also increased from 109 million tonnes in 2013-14 to 160 million tonnes at present.

भारत क्रूड स्टील का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा उत्पादक बना
• केंद्रीय इस्पात मंत्री ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया ने कहा है कि भारत के इस्पात उद्योग ने पिछले नौ वर्षों में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि हासिल की है और अब 2018 में जापान को पीछे छोड़ते हुए दुनिया में कच्चे इस्पात का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा उत्पादक बन गया है।
• उन्होंने कहा कि देश की इस्पात उत्पादन क्षमता भी 2013-14 के 109 मिलियन टन से बढ़कर वर्तमान में 160 मिलियन टन हो गई है।
